I’m really happy Conchita Wurst won Eurovision.
Before watching the final, my favourite song was Iceland’s No Prejudice. I firmly hoped for it to win, and I voted for it during the voting. I hadn’t actually heard the Austrian entry before, but I knew who would be performing it and I thought that no matter what the song was like, it’s was cool that they’d have a drag queen performing.
But then the announcements of the votes began. I was watching the show with my homophobic dad, and he got annoyed when they started giving Austria 12 points. So, just to spite him, I began hoping for Austria to win. They’d had a pretty good song, and I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they had a drag queen performing, but only when my dad began criticising it did I realise that I wanted it to win.
As the votes progressed, I had a lot of fun laughing at my dad’s reactions every time Austria got points, and laughing in his face about it because he’s homophobic and look at Europe voting for a drag queen!
So, yeah, I really liked the fact that Conchita won. I will fully support crowning her the queen of Europe. And then, I will fabulously Rise Like A Phoenix. And laugh at my dad.
Who's with me?!
